Most of Nancy James’ career has focused on a theme of helping groups of managers to work together purposefully to achieve a desired result.
Early in her career, she worked with managers in colleges of further education in the city of Birmingham, to improve the quality of the programmes they offered.
For some years she was in charge of course development for the Teachers’ Panel of the UK Charity, the National Childbirth Trust.
In 1989 she joined the Coverdale Organisation, a management consultancy acting throughout the UK and internationally to improve management skills at all levels of the commercial, charitable and education sectors. She held posts as manager of Coverdale’s education section, during which time the company was working in one third of the Education Authorities in England; as Coverdale’s Midlands Regional Manager and finally as Joint Operations Director for the company.
In 2002 she set up her own strategic consulting company, working with owner/managers of small businesses in the UK and abroad, from which she is almost retired.
She has recently joined the Board of Data Orchard as a Non-executive Director.
