Our list of customer relationship management (CRM) systems and providers to consider

Choosing a new customer relationship management (CRM) system can be a daunting task. Especially if you’re a not-for-profit, the investment is significant, and your requirements may be very individual to your organisation. If you’re following our 10-step guide to a successful CRM implementation, and compiling a longlist of CRM providers, here are a few options that might make your list:

CRM systems

  • Charity Log – charity CRM solution for managing your clients and service users in the cloud. Focus on client/case management and have understanding of outcomes and impact. Optional modules available. Several product options available. well established charity sector provider with many hundreds of clients

  • Lamplight – charity specialist database provider aimed at small charities, They have a core product with optional modules. Well established in the charity sector with many hundreds of clients

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 – charity discounted licencing. Part of the Microsoft product range. Like Salesforce, you’d need to choose from a range of implementation partners who specialise in this product. They offer case management and emphasise fundraising and engagement.

  • Makerable – a CRM designed to look like a social media platform and focuses on useability and making impact data accessible. They have a range of apps available for monitoring progress towards goals, surveys, and monitoring beneficiaries on their journeys towards achieving outcomes.

  • Salesforce – Initially this was primarily designed as a fundraising management product and much of their charity discount is based on this version. You would need a specialist provider to help you configure it to your needs.

  • Access Charity CRM – Primarily sold on the basis of it’s fundraising capabilities, but it handles contact management, projects and events really well so is worth a good look. Integrates well with other products e.g. Outlook, Mailchimp. Various add-ons including SMS text messaging. Well established in the not-for-profit sector with around 1500 users.

  • IT for Charities – great free guides on choosing a CRM system. Lists a wide range of Database/CRM suppliers. Identifies some specialist providers e.g. for arts and cultural organisations....might be worth looking there and selecting one or two of these to put on your longlist.
